Being a part of Eagle Eye News has allowed me to explore my interests and better develop my writing skills. For this portfolio, I have compiled a selection of several examples of my writing work in different beats.
I have been on the Eagle Eye News' editorial board for two years, serving as Managing Editor for one year, Design Editor for two years and Editor-in-Chief for a year and a half.
During my three years on Eagle Eye News' staff and editorial board, I have created hundreds of graphic elements, layouts and featured illustrations for our publication across multiple platforms.

I began creating videos when I was 11 years old, and although they weren't journalistic in nature, they were always a fun way for me to design media. In my junior year, I began creating video packages for Eagle Eye News, and I found that I enjoyed creating these videos just as much as those which I made in middle school.
No story is complete without the photos to tell it. Although I am fairly new to journalistic photography, I have always loved taking pictures as a way to visually display stories in an artistic way. To me, photography is more than a skill, it is a form of art and self-expression that allows people to see the world through my eyes.
In today's political climate, the need for news literacy is more critical than ever. One of my primary goals as a journalist is to spread truthful, useful and understandable information in digestible formats to improve news literacy on my school's campus and in my community.
My experiences as both Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief have helped me develop valuable business management, audience engagement, financial management and marketing skills that are useful to me both as a journalist and as a prospective employee.
In today's journalism industry, the prevalence of social media cannot be underestimated. As a journalist, I work hard to tell engaging stories on social media, whether that be through quick, informative posts, or well-written video coverage.
Eagle Eye News has always be adamant about telling the stories of a diverse variety of students at our school. As Editor-in-Chief, I take diversity very seriously. With each issue of the print edition that I plan and coordinate, I am committed to incorporate diversity into each feature.
